Happy Hour is a big deal in the Mile High City. With specials going on everyday across the city, it's hard to know which spots to choose.
While Denver's traditionally been a beer town, there are great wine bars scattered across the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.
Here are our top picks for Denver happy hours for wine drinkers:
Sienna Wine Bar
Nestled in the Congress Park neighborhood, this wine bar is popular with local wine drinkers.
It offers a great selection of reds, whites and sparkling wines in a charming European-style atmosphere.
While the main focus is wine, Siena also offers a small menu of appetizers.
This Mediterranean favorite run by James Beard Award winning chef Jennifer Jasinski offers more than your standard glass of wine for happy hour. Called Sips and Snacks, this is a themed pairing offered every Monday through Friday from 4 - 6 p.m.
For just $15, you can sample four great wines paired with four different bites. Each week, the theme changes, so be sure to visit their website to see which wine region they're featuring before you go.
Barcelona Wine Bar
This newly opened RiNo hot spot offers an enormous wine selection in a trendy, open space. The bar is featured at the center of the restaurant and fills up quickly for happy hour. Order a glass, a flight or create your own tastings with smaller pours.
If you're hungry, stay for dinner and try one of the many Spanish tapas featured on their menu.
Also new to the Denver food scene, Ultreia opened in late 2017 inside the city's iconic Union Station and is run by the same team as Rioja in Larimer Square.
Serving up Portuguese and Spanish fare, this little spot features an extensive wine list.
Visit during Happy Hour (Monday-Friday 3-6 p.m.) and enjoy sangrias from $3 and house wines from $4. All day Sundays and Mondays they also run Porron and Pintxos night, where you can enjoy a bottle of Spanish or Portuguese wine paired with a board of cheese, cured meats and bites for just $30.
Max's Wine Dive
If you've never thought to pair fried chicken with a glass of wine, you've never been to Max's Wine Dive.
Located in the heart of Capitol Hill, Max's offers wines on tap as well as bottles exclusively offered in their restaurants (they have other locations outside of Denver).
Pair a glass with their Man Candy (candied bacon) or Truffle Parmesan Popcorn.
